Offa robbery attack: Kwara Assembly to hold security summit

The Kwara State House of Assembly yesterday said it has resolved to hold a security summit in the state as parts of efforts to ensure the security of lives and property in the State.
The Deputy Speaker of the Kwara State House of Assembly, Chief Matthew Okedare gave this indication in Ilorin, while responding to Matter of General Public Importance raised by member representing Oke Ogun Constituency, Barrister Kamaldeen Fagbemi on the armed robbery incidence in Off a, which he said claimed the lives of 9 Police men and more than 12 civilians last month.
Chief Okedare who presided over the sitting, disclosed that the Speaker, Dr Ali Ahmad had concluded arrangement to hold security summit, next week to complement the efforts of the police and other stakeholders in ensuring protection of lives and property in the state, and enjoined all stakeholders to be part of efforts at proffering enduring solutions to the security challenges bedevilling the state.
Earlier, Barrister Fagbemi, had while raising the Matter of General Public Importance, praised the state traditional council, the Senate President, Dr Bukola Saraki, Governor Abdul Fatah Ahmed, Senator Rafiu Ibrahim and other notable Nigerians, for commiserating with the Oloffa of Offa, Oba Muftau Gbadamosi Esuwoye and the entire People of Off a over the incidence. Meanwhile, the House has mandated its Committee on Energy Works and Transport, to invite all relevant stakeholders and investigate non construction of Adena bride linking Kaiama Local Government and Jebba in Moro Local Government Area, inspite of the release of N7.9m by the state Government to the state Road Maintenance Agency.
This followed Matter of General Public Importance raised by member representing Gwanabe,/ G w e r i a / B a n i / A d e n a Constituency, Chief Baziki Suleiman on the collapsed bridge.
It would be recalled that the House under the leadership of the Speaker, Dr Ali Ahmad, had passed both Private member and executive bills into law aimed at tackling security challenges bedevilling the State
