Official: INEC declares AbdulRasaq winner of Kwara governorship election



Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has officially declared the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate in Kwara state, Alhaji Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq, winner of the Saturday’s governorship and house of assembly elections.


Presenting results of the elections at the state headquarters of the INEC in Ilorin  Sunday, the INEC Returning Officer, Professor Liman Sanusi, said that the APC flagbearer polled 331,546 votes to defeat all the 35 governorship candidates in the contest.


His closest opponent who is the governorship candidate of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Hon. Razaq Atunwa, scored 114,754  votes.
The results showed that Alhaji Abdulrazaq of the APC won in all the 16 local government areas of the state.


The INEC returning officer said that the total number of voters recoded in the election was 1, 376, 372, while the number of accredited voters was464,393.
He also said that 453,430 was the total valid votes, while the rejected votes was 9,994 and the total votes cast was 463, 427.
