Ogun: 6 dead, 2 injured in tanker auto crash 

Six persons were reportedly killed and two others injured in an auto crash involving a Volvo 626 and a tanker laden with gas at Idiroko Otta route, of Ogun state on Monday.

According to a statement by the Federal Road Safety Ogun command’s spokesperson, Florence Okpe, the crash was said to occur at about 1320hrs, involving 2 vehicles with registration numbers not visible due to the nature of the crash.

She blamed the cause of the crash to wrongful overtaken.

“A total of eight persons were involved, two persons were rescued with injuries (2 male adult) and six persons recorded death and trapped under the crash vehicle,” she said.

She revealed that, the suspected cause of the crash was wrongful overtaking which led to head on collision and with the gas spilling out making the rescue operation difficult.

“The injured victims were taken to Hospital for medical attention and fire service were contacted immediately,with the scene of the crash conned to avert secondary crash.

“FRSC operatives are fully on ground managing the situation and making effort to remove the trapped bodies,” Okpe added.

Meanwhile, motorists were advised to drive cautiously, remain calm , cooperate with FRSC personnel pending when the situation is put to order.
