Ogun: 74 beneficiaries get N1.4m NDE micro-enterprise enhancement scheme

Not less than 74 beneficiaries have been paid N20, 000 each in the National Directorate of Employment (NDE) and Micro Enterprise Enhancement Scheme (MEES) in Ogun state.

The scheme is designed to help small and medium enterprises to survive, thereby creating wealth and eradicating poverty in the society.

The director general of the agency, Mallam Abubakar Nuhu Fikpo, said the Micro Enterprise Enhancement Scheme (MEES) organised by the Small Scale Enterprise Department (SSE) is one of NDE’S major schemes.

The DG, represented by the state coordinator, NDE, Ogun state, Akinsanya Mobolaji Remi, stated that micro and small businesses owned by entrepreneurs and business people is the building blocks to economic development, saying it is demand driven.

He added that: “These businesses serve as means of daily income to their owners and if properly managed, it can expand into bigger business ventures. This is the reason why the federal government through NDE is disbursing N20,000 loan each to 74 micro and small enterprise owners to enhance their businesses in Ogun state.”The deputy director of SSE, NDE headquarters, Abuja, Chikodi Ike, represented by HOD SSE, Ogun state, Ojineka Victoria, stated that the reason why micro businesses do not survive these days is due to poor financial management skills, inadequate costing, poor record keeping and lack of adequate purchasing and stock control.
