Ogun APC thumbs up for Abiodun over Supreme Court victory

The Ogun state chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Thursday congratulated Governor Dapo Abiodun for his victory at the Supreme Court, describing the judgement as the will of God for the people of the state.

The party while reacting to Abiodun’s victory through a statement by its, Publicity Secretary, Tunde Oladunjoye, said, “the Supreme Court, which was in concurrence with the earlier judgements of the Ogun state Governorship Election Petition Tribunal and that of the Court of Appeal, Ibadan, was a reaffirmation that Prince Dapo Abiodun is God’s project”.

According to the party, “the needless distraction arising from day-dreaming litigations and court-shopping syndrome have been finally and permanently buried; and our governor can now squarely face the business of governance in the execution of mandate freely given to him by the good people of Ogun state.

“We had maintained right from the onset that Prince Dapo Abiodun’s clear victory at the election was a divine mandate and a true reflection of the choice of the good people of Ogun state. The chairman of the Election Petition Tribunal, in a unanimous judgment described the petition of our opponent and his mushroom party as ‘destined to fail’; the Court of Appeal in a unanimous said it ‘lacked merit’; and the Supreme Court concurred with the judgement of the lower courts.

“We congratulate Prince Dapo Abiodun, the entire members of our party at all levels, we thank our leaders at the national level and we urge all genuine lovers of development in our dear Ogun state to join hands with the Omoluwabi Governor in taking the state to greater heights,” the party added.

Also reacting to Abiodun’s victory, the Ogun APC Youth League (APCYL) said the Supreme Court judgment is a further confirmation of the massive votes freely given to the governor by the electorate.

A statement issued by the Coordinator of the League, Comrade Olamide Lawal, in Abeokuta Thursday hailed the judiciary for being “unbiased, fair and reliable.”

The league observed that the verdict of the Supreme Court had not only justified the trust reposed in the governor at Saturday, March 9 Governorship polls but had also validated the judgement of the Court of Appeal in Ibadan last November.

According to them, the verdict had finally put to rest, all issues of litigations that ought to naturally distract the governor but which he did not allow.

“We hereby call on our governor to see the judgement of the court as a further call to duty and compliment the tremendous achievements recorded so far.”

“It is obvious that you (Governor Abiodun) have started your first set of months with developmental projects, we however call on you not to relent in your progressive agenda and plans for the state.”
