Ogun govt expresses shock over OPIC inferno

The Ogun state government has expressed shock over the fire Incident that occurred at the Ogun State Property and Investment Corporation (OPIC) building located on Mobolaji Bank Anthony Way, Ikeja, Lagos.

The special adviser/managing director of the Corporation, Architect Abiodun Fari-Arole, who stated this in a press release on Friday, stressed that from the available preliminary report, the fire was caused by a gas tanker that exploded in front of the plaza in which several people lost their lives.

Fari-Arole, however, thumbed up the fire service men who promptly responded when they were called upon.

“We also appreciate the efforts of security officials who did not allow hoodlums to take advantage of the incident. This is unfortunate; our sincere condolences to the families of the victims of the fire incident.

“It is too early to speculate on the general impact of the incident. We shall, therefore, await the report of the investigation into this fire and thereafter take necessary steps,” the statement read in part
