Ohanaeze condemns Yesufu’s Boko Haram video threat on Amaechi

Ohaneze Ndigbo has condemned the alleged video threat from Boko Haram’s   Aisha Yesufu to the effect that the life of the Minister of Transport, Chibike Amaechi is not safe.

Secretary General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, Dim Uche Okwukwu,  who raised  the alarm over the purported  video threat from Aisha Yesufu, noted that in the said threat video, she was said to have notified the world that Amaechi’s life is not safe in the hands of the dreaded Boko Haram.

He stated that should anything happen to the Minister of Transportation, Nigerians should know who to hold responsible.

In a press statement issued by Uche Okwukwu and made available to Blueprint in Umuahia, the group stated that its attention had been drawn to a video posted on Instagram by Ms. Aisha Yesufu, in which she, apparently speaking on behalf of Boko Haram, told the world that Amaechi is not safe.

It read in part: “In that video, she said to Amaechi, ‘You think you are safe because you have escaped…”, an obvious reference to a purported attack on a passenger train in Kaduna, as the minister made his way to honour the Kaduna state governor, Mallam Nasir El-Rufai.

“Ordinarily, we would have overlooked the video as mere unfortunate ranting, but the choice of words in the video, and her obvious confidence that Amaechi will come to harms soon enough is not only worrisome but deserving of a security alert.

“Worse still is the very sudden death of the chief detail to Amaechi, less than 48 hours after the video went into circulation.

“Ohanaeze Ndigbo notes that, as a peace loving and law abiding people, we do hereby call on security agents to beef up security around Amaechi and invite Yesufu to explain in details the very  essence of her video and why she is so sure that the minister is not safe.”
