Ohanaeze Ndigbo cries for help as gunmen kidnap car dealer in Bayelsa

The leadership of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Youth Wing, Bayelsa state Chapter, has called on the leadership of Ijaw Youth Congress (IYC) Worldwide to come to its aide over the kidnap of a billionaire car dealer, Mr. Emeka Chindu, by  gunmen Yenagoa, the Bayelsa state Capital.

According to the Acting President of the Igbo youth body, Mr. Ikem Chibuzor, the businessman who sells cars along the Sani Abacha expressway has spent six days in kidnappers den without any form communication to his family or the Igbo Community in the state.

Speaking to newsmen in Yenagoa, he explained that the kidnappers reportedly stormed the car stand, dragged their victim into a waiting car, zoomed off and later abandoned the car used in the operation at the waterside of Ayama, a Community in Southern Ijaw Local Government Area.

He further said that every attempt to establish contact with the kidnappers have proved abortive, saying  have now found it worthy to appeal to the IYC and by extension, the entire Ijaw Nation to come to the aid of the kidnapped businessman.

According to eyewitness account, it was learnt that after kidnapping the businessman, a 40-year-old man who hails from Anambra, the yet-to-be identified gunmen took also took some cars along with victim.

Explaining further he said “it was on a Wednesday morning. I was traveling to Abakeleke for a burial when I got the news that Emeka Chindu had been kidnapped.

“Since then till date we have not had any contact from the kidnappers. So after due consultation with my brothers, we have come to the conclusion to appeal to the state govermment and the IYC to assist in locating our brother that is languishing in kidnappers den.”

Also speaking the Chief Security Officer of the parent body of Ohanaeze Ndigbo in Bayelsa state, Mr. Emeka Ugwu, described the kidnap victim as a peace loving individual who has no known enemy in the State and beyond.

“I am surprised that a man who is doing a legitimate business that contributes to the economy of the country would be kidnapped in broad daylight and go unhindered. We know Bayelsans are peace loving people, and that is why we are appeling to the IYC and State government to come to the rescue of our brother.”
