Ohaneze calls for extension of date for PVC collection

Ohaneze Youth Council (OYC) has frowned at the numerous uncollected permanent voters cards belonging to Ndigbo   in the offices of Independent National Electoral commission (INEC).

They alleged that the cards if not collected will form rigging materials for the 2019 general elections.

They called on all their members beyond southeast who have not collected it’s  PVC to do so before the  closure date given by Independent National electoral commission.

Leader of the group, Mazi Okechukwu Isiguzoro in a statement released to Newsmen in Abakaliki beckoned on INEC to extend the collection date of the PVC to enable everyone pick their card.

The statement reads in part: “OYC frowned at the numerous uncollected Igbo PVCs across the South-east and other parts of the country where Igbos resides, these uncollected PVCs are the efforts of mischief markers who are collaborating with corrupt INEC officials to deny numerous Igbo their civic rights to vote the candidates of their choice in the 2019 General election.

“We observed that Prior to 2015 Elections that APC controlled states in South-west deliberately disenfranchised Igbos by denying them their civic rights and access to collect their PVCs.

“OYC General Assembly had mandated our 31 States Chairmen which excludes the five Core South-east States to mobilize Igbo, alongside Prominent Igbo groups outside south-east to ensure that between 16th -21st January 2019, that every Igbo man or woman who registered in the last voters registration exercise that ended in August 31st 2018 gets his/her PVCs before the deadline of January 21st 2019.

” We call on INEC to extend the deadline for the collection of PVCs till ending of January 2019 to enable those who travelled and registered in their hometowns to go and get it without being intimidated.’” The statement reads.
