Ojukwu commends Buhari on Not Too Young To Run Bill

Executive Secretary, National Human Rights Commission (NHRC), Tony Ojukwu, has commended President Muhammadu Buhari for signing into law the Not Too Young to Run Bill.
The bill seeks to alter relevant sections of the 1999 Constitution (as amended) to reduce the age qualification for contesting political offices in Nigeria.
Reacting to reports on the Presidential assent in Abuja, Ojukwu stated that the Act will promote equality, inclusiveness and diversity in the Nigeria political process.
According to the Executive Secretary, “the coming into operation of this bill will widen the space for political participation of the critical population and empower the Nigerian youths to fully realize their potentials.” While congratulating the conveners of the bill for the wonderful initiative, he urged the Nigerian youths to take advantage of the law and demonstrate their innate capacity to participate effectively in a free and fair political process devoid of violence.
Ojukwu similarly commended the National Assembly for the passage of the bill, stressing that by their action, the Assembly members have not only written their names in gold but have also given young Nigerians the leverage to contribute their own quota to national development.
The Not Too Young to Run Bill was sponsored by 39-year-old Hon.
Tony Nwulu, representing Oshodi/Isolo Federal Constituency, Lagos state in the Federal House of Representatives.
