Okene oil merchant abducted, masquerade, 2 others killed

Owner of Always Petroleum and Gas, Okene, Kogi state, Alhaji Otinau Momohjimoh was on Sunday evening kidnapped by gunmen.
The oil mogul in his early 40’s was said to have been kidnapped at Okene Central mosque around 8pm where he often spent time with friends and business associates.
An eye witness account revealed that the gunmen, whose numbers could not be ascertained, stormed the place and started shooting sporadically to scare people away.
The eyewitness, who identified himself as Usman Ishaq, added that as people were scampering for safety, two of the gunmen held the oil mogul by hands and dragged him into their Toyota Camry car and went away with him to an unknown destination.
Ishaq said that the kidnappers were yet to call the family of the abducted and no ransom had yet been placed on him.
In a related development, two people including a nocturnal masquerade were killed at Inoziomi quarters in Adavi local government area during the Ebe festival.
According to source, the incident occurred on Saturday evening around 9 – 10pm when gunmen riddling on a motorcycle suddenly opened fire and killed a masquerade and two people on the spot while two others were seriously wounded.
Reacting on the incident, Police Public Relation Officer, Kogi state police command, Mr William Aya, confirmed the killing but said the kidnappers of Alhaji Momohjimoh had not been reported to the command.
Aya assured that the perpetrators of the heinous act would be apprehended to face the wrath of the law.
