Okitipupa LG inaugurates c’ttee on bitumen exploration

Chairman, Okitipupa local government area of Ondo state, Mr Abayomi Adesanya,  has constituted a nine-man technical committee on bitumen exploration in the area.

The press secretary to the local government chairman, Mr Martins Fasusi, made this known in a statement made available to newsmen in Okitipupa Monday.

The committee is to understudy and review Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) report prepared by the Federal Ministry of Environment, Abuja, on the social and environmental impact of bitumen exploration and exploitation in the council.

Adesanya said  “the council abounds with bitumen and other natural resources, which if explored, will generate income for the council and the state.’’

He urged the committee members to be dedicated and perform their responsibilities with all sincerity for the benefit of residents to enjoy better life.

“We are blessed with bitumen and other natural resources in this council, which will generate income for us and the state.

“I charge the committee to be up and doing in the task given to them and bring good report forward for the betterment of all,” he said.

The Abodi of Ikale-Land, Oba Babatunde Faduyile,  who spoke on behalf of other traditional rulers, appreciated the committee members for their promptness and selflessness.

The traditional ruler encouraged the committee members to see the assignment given to them as community service in the best interest of all and sundry.

Responding, the chairman of the committee, Mr Raphael Ikujuni, said  the task would be given all necessary seriousness and ensure the opportunity waiting for all residents were not sacrificed on selfish interest.

The committee members are: Mr Olumide Aju (SAN), Mr Pius Omoge, Mr Bayo Ehinmosan and Prof. Akin Akinmosin.

Others are: Mr Akinyombo Durojaiye, Mr Eniola Olurotimi, Mr Peter Aribo, Mr Oluwaseun Ogungbemi as secretary. (NAN)
