Oko Polytechnic Rector tasks students on entrepreneurship education 

The Rector of the Federal Polytechnic Oko, Anambra state, Dr. Francisca Unoma Nwafulugo, has advised the youth to shun cyber crimes and other anti-social vices and instead pursue entrepreneurial skills to acquire genuine wealth and create jobs.

Nwafulugo, who made the appeal at Oko during a two day business summit and entrepreneurship exhibition, organised by the Centre for Entrepreneurship Development (CED) of the institution, explained that developing interest in learning and skills development could create sustainable business ventures, local and international recognitions.

She added that entrepreneurs drive economic growth and development building because it promotes skill acquisition and development, which according to her are the root of capacity building and self-sustenance.

“One of the values it adds is that it fosters a production-based economy instead of consumption-based economy. It also tackles poverty extensively by ensuring that a greater number of the adult population are economically engaged in a productive venture,” she stated.

Delivering a paper entitled: Business Management, Expansion and Business Plan at the Department of Computer Engineering of the institution, Engr. Prince Nwankwo, urged young entrepreneurs to be creative, innovative and create something that could solve societal problems.

Earlier, the Director, Centre for Entrepreneurship Development of the institution, Dr. Ifeoma Ugbo, explained that the workshop cum exhibition was necessary, given the high demand of skilled manpower in the country.
