House of Representative member representing Ohaozara/Onicha/Ivo federal Constituency of Ebonyi state Linus Abaa Okorie has called on all candidates of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ebonyi state to get to work and stop complaining.
Okorie who spoke through his media aide, Chijoke Agwu in Abakaliki , said it is time to woo and convince electorates as election into the National Assembly is barely one month.
The lawmaker also debunked social media reports alleging that he is sponsoring a candidate in another party for the position of Onicha West Constituency into Ebonyi state House of Assembly.
Report in the media (not Blueprint) has it that he is sponsoring one Sylvester Ogbu popularly known as “Sly Ogbu” in Advanced Allied Party (AAP).
After describing the social media reports as ‘wicked falsehood with the intention to smear the name of the lawmaker’, Okorie said those peddling the fake report were doing so to cause panic in Onicha Igboeze, a community in the constituency where the PDP candidate hails from.
Mr.Agwu emphasised that Hon.Okorie who is the state Coordinator of Friends of Atiku in Ebonyi remained a staunch and loyal member of the People’s Democratic Party and could not be sponsoring a candidate in other political party against his party.
“The attention of the media office of the member representing Ohaozara/Onicha/Ivo federal constituency, Rt. Hon.Linus Abaa Okorie, has been drawn to some social media insinuations to the effect that the lawmaker may have sponsored a candidate in another political party to contest for Onicha West Constituency of Ebonyi State House of Assembly in the forthcoming general elections.
“This wicked falsehood is fabricated, and being syndicated on social media by some very naive and obviously misguided youths of Onicha Igboeze. The target is to create unnecessary panic in the community and to smear the name of the lawmaker, who has become the unfortunate victim of their life frustrations.
“While Okorie media office cannot descend so low to begin to respond to some of the petty issues being bandied ,we must however confess that it is very disappointing that barely two months into the elections , a candidate for an election prefer to complain instead of campaigning for votes .
“It is disturbing that rather than engaging the people on why their candidate should be voted for during the assembly elections, these social media comrades prefer to cry that another party has fielded a candidate for the same election.
“We wish to state however that Rt Hon.Linus Abaa Okorie is a staunch member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and is irrevocably committed to the victory of Alhaji Atiku Abubakar and all candidates of the party in the forthcoming general elections; provided these other candidates do the needful”. He said.
