Delta state Governor, Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa, yesterday, decried the latest bombing in Adamawa mosque and urged religious leaders to continue to preach peace and unity to its adherents for development to thrive.
According to him, unity and peace are the only tools that will bring about the speedy development of the country, adding that the church should also join the vanguard through prayers and engaging in positive actions.
Governor Okowa, who spoke in Asaba when he received the Prelate of the Eternal Sacred Order of the Cherubim and Seraphim Church Worldwide, His Eminence, Elder Dr. David Bob-Manuel, said positive development could not take place without peace with the church playing pivotal role in the management of peace building and development.
According to him, “The church plays a prominent role in the peace and unity of our country and state; there is no where development can take place without peace, the church should continue to play its role and be a voice of unity without shying away from speaking the truth to power.
He commended the prelate on his appointment, and the Church on its proposal to build a hospital in Asaba, stressing that “a healthy nation is key to the development of our people.”
Earlier, Elder Bob-Manuel informed Governor Okowa that he was on a pastoral visit to the state and commended the governor for his development strides, which he said have improved the living conditions of the people.
