President Goodluck Jonathan yesterday visited Ibadan for the 100 years birthday celebration of the Olubadan of Ibadan Land, Oba Samuel Odugade Odulana.
Speaking at the palace, Jonathan described Oba Odulana as a peace-loving royal father and a man of impeccable character, whose tenure had been peaceful.

The president lauded the Olubadan for his contributions towards sustaining the peace and stability which has been reigning supreme in his domain.
“Oba Odulana is a man of impeccable character, whose tenure has witnessed peace and tranquility.  To reach a 100 years in life is a blessing,” he said.

The president, who apologised for his inability to be at the church service held on Monday in Ibadan due to the bomb blast in Abuja, appreciated the Oba for his role during a conference held before the country’s independence in 1960.
He stressed further that  he had been willing to see Nigerians who share the same birthday with the country like Oba Odulana, adding that the attainment of 100 years by the Olubadan is unique as it was not easy to reach the age.

Oba Odulana, while speaking through the Otun Olubadan, High Chief Omowale Kuye, lauded Jonathan for the way he had been handling the situation in the country, especially with the convocation of the ongoing National Conference.
The president was accompanied to the Olubadan’s palace by the National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Alhaji Ahmed Adamu Mu’azu, Senate President David Mark, Deputy Speaker, House of Representatives, Emeka Ihedioha, Senator Hosea Agboola, former Oyo state governor Otunba Adebayo Alao-Akala, Minister of State for the FCT, Oloye Jumoke Akinjide, and others.
