Olympics: NRA hails World Cup bound Madu

The Nigeria Referees Association, NRA, congratulates FIFA woman referee, Ndidiamaka Patience Madu on the invitation extended to her by the world football governing body to be part of the match officials for the forthcoming Olympics Games, Tokyo 2021.

Amaka, a member of the of the Enugu State council of the NRA will be among the few African referees from the zone invited for the world event.

Before now, she was also shortlisted to be among the six African women referees picked for the forth coming women world cup.

Recall also that Madu, a PhD student of the University of Nigeria, Nsukka was also part of the priveleged top class referees drawn from all parts of the world selected by FIFA to take part in intensive course in Doha, Qatar in 2020 before the Covid 19 protocols stopped the program last July.

Madu, undoubtedly the flagship of Nigerian women referees at the moment is a household name among the match officials of the elite class domestic league having been a regular face in the NPFL for about eight years after passing through the crucibles of Refereeing training.

On Sunday, Madu was at he Centre for the final match of the NWPFL Super Six played at the Dipo Dina International Stadium, Ijebu Ode, Ogun State.

An elated President of the NRA, Otuna Tade Azeez while extending felicitations to one of Nigeria’s ambassadors in the art of refereeing, opined that Madu’s recognition is an eloquent testimonies of the ranking profile, the country’s referees have earned in FIFA and CAF diary.

While wishing her best of luck and journey mercies, Otunba Tade Azeez on behalf of the Association reminded Madu of the need to remain a worthy ambassador and keep the flag flying.
