Omisore is not a coward, he can’t leave PDP in secret – brother

A younger brother to the former deputy governor of Osun State, Senator Iyiola Omisore, Dotun Omisore, has debunked the rumour that his brother has left Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.

He described news spreading on social media as ‘fake’, saying Omisore is not a coward that will be afraid of taking a decision.
Speaking with Blueprint on telephone, Dotun Omisore said “he is not a coward, he would tell them if he wants to leave the party, he can not do it in secret.
It was gathered that some people who were believed to be associates of Senator Omisore removed the PDP flag and banner in front of the state party Secretariat at Ogo-Oluwa area, Osogbo, and burnt them on Thursday.
The party Secretariat has been left for Omisore by the Soji Adagunodo led faction who had moved to Ikirun road, Osogbo. Presently, there is no symbol of PDP in the Ogo-Oluwa Secretariat as at the time of filing this report.
But, brother to the former Chairman, appropriation committee of the Senate, said the banner was burnt by some youths and they were not sent by Omisore.
He said, “Omisore did not join PDP in secret. It is not true that he tore his membership card of PDP.
Speaking, the Director General of the Bayo Faforiji led faction, Mr. Bade Falade, said Omisore has not left the party as being rumoured.
Falade said speculation that Omisore and his supporters were perfecting moves to dump the PDP was “totally untrue”.
“By implication, Senator Iyiola Omisore has not exited the PDP. As we speaks, we have litigations pending in court. The court will determine because the judiciary is seen as the last hope of the common man. Until the case is determined we cannot say we are leaving the PDP. We are still in PDP until the litigation is determined”
“As you are all aware, there was congress recently organised by the national leadership of our party. Before now, we have been divided into two major camps, namely the Adagunodo and Faforiji’s camp”.
“When the instruction for the re-convening of the congress was passed, the directive was only given to one side. That was Adagunodo group. Before we realised, what was going on, they have concluded the congresses. The outstanding ward congress, according to them was conducted without us. The local government congress they did without us”.
“The state congress, which climaxed was also organised by that group and was supported by the National Working Committee (NWC) of the PDP. Before then, there had been a court action, trying to establish that the ward congress had already been concluded in Osun State by the former national leadership of the PDP, headed by Senator Ahmed Makarfi”.
“And it even formed an instrument of the national convention that we held in Abuja. On the basis of that, we thought there was no need for another ward congress again. That in the wisdom of the national chairman of our party or the National Working Committee, they felt they have to revisit the matter and conduct their own, which they did”.
He said the flag and banner burnt was not a directive by Omisore, adding “that was not our making, it was at the instance of the people. I want to say that I am the ex-officio member of the party at national level and in Osun State, we are still in the PDP. Our people are aggrieved and they have reasons to be aggrieved, but we are trying to pacify them”.
