The Deputy President of the Senate, Ovie Omo-Agege, has expressed deep shock and sadness over the demise of the President and Founder of Trinity Gospel Mission, Ughelli, Bishop Diamond Emuobor.
This is as he congratulated a former Deputy Speaker of the Delta state House of Assembly, Hon. Solomon Funkekeme on the occasion of his 58th birthday.
Omo-Agege in a personally signed condolence message in Abuja Tuesday, condoled with the Urhobo nation and the Christian community in the state over the death of Emuobor, who was a renowned cleric while alive.
He described Bishop Emuobor, who chaired bodies like the Elders Council, Urhobo Christian Ministers Association (UCMAI), Delta State Christian Pilgrimage Board and the Christian Association of Nigeria, Ughelli North chapter as a religious leader who spoke truth to power with his biblical teachings.
“Bishop Emuobor’s passing is a heavy loss to all of us, and his memory will remain evergreen in the hearts of the Urhobo people in particular and Deltans in general. Indeed, we have lost a wise and eminent religious leader who used the pulpit to speak truth to power,” he said.
Senator Omo-Agege extended his heartfelt condolences to the Bishop’s family and friends whilst enjoining Deltans to remember them in their prayers at this very trying moment of losing such an illustrious Deltan.
In another personally signed statement, Omo-Agege felicitates with Hon Solomon Funkekeme on his 58th birthday celebration.
According to him, Funkekeme as a politician, has distinguished himself as a public officer in arious capacities over the years.
“Prior to his current appointment as Senior Political Adviser to the Delta State Governor, Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa, Funkekeme had served as former member and Deputy Speaker, Delta state House of Assembly, former Commissioner for Works, erstwhile Chairman, Governing Council of Delta State Polytechnic, Ozoro among others.
“The Delta Central lawmaker underscored the hard work, discipline and focus that have helped in building the politician, even as he prayed that the Almighty God would grant him many more fruitful years.
“And so, on behalf of my family, my dear constituents, we wish you good health and more fulfilling years ahead,” he said.
