On Hon. Dobi’s dam initiatives

That a parliamentarian will think above just sitting in the hallowed chambers of the lower chambers of the National Assembly enjoying air-conditioner and making verbal contributions calls for commendation. This is just what the tremendous and laudable initiative of the House of Representatives member (Abuja South) implies and signifies. There is no doubt that Hon. Isah Egah Dobi has surprised a lot of people by extending his constituency projects to Dam construction in Dobi and Kwali. This is first of its kind from a parliamentarian.
Today, the hardship being experienced by inhabitants of these areas, especially farmers, has been reduced. It is a fact that funds for the execution of constituency projects are minimal, in spite of this, this two-term former boss of Gwagwalada Area Council who is now a federal lawmaker has utilised the little resources to construct two dams even at that, he refused to make advertorials in some dailies to blow his trumpet as others do. Who says there are no enigmatic politicians in our midst? It is better to let the people judge, rather than judging oneself.
Before the inception of Dobi as the Abuja South lawmaker in the House of Representatives, the constituency was relatively unknown. This has demonstrated that politicians with grassroots administrative background are better to represent their people at the parliament. When the Tambuwal speakership came to be, many Abuja south constituents had expected that Dobi would be made a committee chairman, but due to internal political wrangling, it never came to be.
Undeterred, the honourable was still able to make these laudable initiatives. The construction of the two dams in Dobi and Kwali has really brought succor to inhabitants of these areas. It has also brought about tourist attraction, as neighboring villages now visit the dams for relaxation and site seeing. Development in the water sector of the Jonathan transformation agenda has been made possible by one of his loyalists and supporters, Isah Egah Dobi.
FCT Minister, Bala Mohammed, should please visit these two dams and see the wonderful job Dobi has done. Like the late Mallam Waziri would say “Politics without bitterness” the bitter part of FCT politics should be put aside and support given to whom it is due.
A performer remains a performer no matter what. Performance and delivery of dividends of democracy has nothing to do with tribe, religion and class. All that the Abuja south constituents yearn for are positive change, transformation and development. Since 1999, the Abuja South Federal constituency has produced about three federal lawmakers, namely, late Hon. Tanko Babantakwa, Sen. Sidi Ali and Hon. Isah Egah Dobi, outside Isa Egah Dobi who is the incumbent, no constituent has ever enjoyed this type of gigantic project execution of dam from the initial two lawmakers that represented the constituency in the National Assembly.
This workaholic lawmaker deserves our co-operation as Abuja south electorate and constituents. At this crucial time that election is fast approaching, let no one be deceived as regards who the cap fits. I am not in a way campaigning for anyone, but let the records of each contending candidate speak for him or her. God bless Abuja South.
