Ondo gov’ship election: Appeal court delivers judgement Wednesday

The Appeal Court sitting in Akure, will Wednesday, June 16 deliver judgment in the appeal brought before it by candidate of the PDP, Eyitayo Jegede in the October 10, 2020 governorship election in the state.

Jegede had approached the court after the election petition tribunal dismissed his case for lack of merit.

The court will also rule over the cross-appeal case brought before it by the state governor, Oluwarotimi Akeredolu; his deputy, Lucky Aiyedatiwa; APC and INEC.

The court had last week through a zoom session, due to strike by the judiciary workers heard all the appeals by the appellant and defenders, while reserving judgment in the case to a later date.

Counsel who are party to the case however anonymously informed Blueprint that the judgment would be delivered this Wednesday,16th day 2021.

It is unclear if the session will be done via zoom application, since judiciary workers have now resumed from industrial action.

The three man panel is led by Justice Theresa Ngolika Orji-Abadua.
