Ondo guber: Persons with disabilities promise support for Akeredolu

Barely 10 days to the governorship election in Ondo state, Persons Living With Disabilities (PLWDs) in the state have drummed support for Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu.

The Special Assistant to the Governor on special Persons, Folasade Arise, said at a press conference held at the NUJ Press Centre, Alagbaka Akure, that the sterling performance of Governor Akeredolu for the physically challenged in the state has been quite encouraging.

Further, Arise said this would not have possible were it not for the love, care and passion of the governor for persons with disabilities in the state.

The governor’s aide said: “On 17th June, 2019 the Board of Agency for the welfare of persons with disabilities was constituted by Mr Governor and yet he put another PWDs member (Visually Impaired Person) as chairman while other members of the board cut across all cluster of PWDs.

“Governor Akeredolu has broken the yoke of 20 years unemployed graduates of persons with disabilities in Ondo state by given employment to 35 members into the civil service. Mr Governor has been passionate for our community.

“It is right time to pay back his good job and on this note we hereby pledge and declare our support for Governor Akeredolu’s second term.”

She used the forum to plead and urge eligible voters, particularly persons with disabilities in the state, to come out en mass and cast their votes for Akeredolu come the October 10 election.

Dr Tunji Abayomi, who represented the governor at the event, said he, (Akeredolu) deserves second term based on his performances in all sectors which cut across the three senatorial districts in the last three years.

The legal luminary and Pro-Chancellor of the state-owned university, who also is the grand patron of persons with disabilities in the state, urged the electorate and especially persons living with disability to vote for Akeredolu come October 10 governorship election so as to continue enjoying good thing in the state.
