‘Only contractors with speedy, quality work will get contracts in Yobe’

Governor Mai Mala Buni of Yobe state has hailed Ric Rock Construction Company, among other companies handling the construction of Damaturu township roads, for the speedy and quality work.The governor assured that only contractors who delivered would henceforth get contracts in the state.Buni, disclosed this on Sunday when he inspected 25.5 kilometer Damaturu-Kalallawa dual carriageway awarded by his predecessor.Speaking earlier at the site, the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Works and Transport, Abdullahi Mohammed Jawa, told journalists that the Damaturu-Kalallawa dual carriageway had reached 65% completion after payment of N2.7b out of the N4.9b approved for the work.“At Don Eteibet Housing estate, the construction of 5.7km road and 11.4km concrete drain was nearing completion having achieved 98 per cent,” he saidOther road inspected by the governor, was construction of 3.3km road and 6.6 concrete drains at Sabon Pegi/Pompomari wards with overall 99.6 per cent completion.Residents of the areas whose joy knew no bound thanked the Yobe state government for the rapid roads and culverts construction.They said it would reduce cases of flooding experienced every year.
