Only football, corruption unite Nigeria – delegate

General Jonathan Tamlung, a delegate from Plateau state said the Nigeria of today is only united by football and corruption, but that the main cause of the insecurity that has bedeviled the country is corruption.

Tamlung, who stood to make remarks on the inaugural speech of President Jonathan called for proper medical examination of some public office holders, including civil servants whom he accused of playing a major role in making Nigeria a corrupt society.

He cited a situation where political office holders sleep on money in their various bedrooms as an unfortunate situation.
Also contributing, Prof. Yusuf Turaki, reduced the causes of insecurity in the North to religion and ethnicity, saying the country has failed to address the issue of ethnic nationality which has degenerated into a serious matter today.
