ONW urges Ndigbo to accept Covid-19 vaccine, alleges diversion

A socio-cultural group, Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide (ONW ) Monday alleged that medical doctors are diverting the covid-19 vaccine meant for Igbo to their private hospitals.

The group in a statement signed by its  Secretary General Mazi Okechukwu Isiguzoro, did not only called on South-east Governors to make strict rules guiding the vaccine, but urged Ndigbo to accept the vaccine as it would help eradicate the virus.

The statement reads in part, “Apex Igbo socio cultural organization, Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide had described the ongoing suspicions and panics brewing amongst Nigerians on the authenticity and potentialities of covid-19 vaccines, as generally administered as a mythical belief of Nigerians which needs to be dealt with, without further delay.

“Most importantly, there are evidences of our people’s rejection of Covid-19 vaccines, which prompted us to interfere and start the campaign to encourage our people to participate in the process of Covid-19 vaccines administrating, as a measure of combating the pandemic in Igboland.

“Ohanaeze Ndigbo calls on Igbo Governors to establish unified communications and protocols to meet the needs of Ndigbo in the  process of administering the Covid-19  vaccine programs.  We are aware of the ongoing sabotage of few scrupulous medical officials in diversions of covid 19 vaccines to private hospitals and individuals to be resold to patients.

“There must be strict rules for the Covid-19 vaccines administering to Ndigbo, Governors must place grave sanctions on erring medical professionals caught in mischievous acts of sabotage. “
