Oodua separatist group, Afenifere heating up polity – Oyo APC raises alarm

The All Progressives Congress (APC), Oyo state chapter has alerted  that Oodua separatist group and the pan Yoruba socio-cultural group, Afenifere are now heating up the polity that is threatening the unity of Nigeria.

Oyo APC raised the alarm in a statement in Ibadan on Saturday by its Caretaker Committee’s Publicity Secretary, Dr AbdulAzeez Olatunde

The party  also accused Governor Seyi Makinde of encouraging the two bodies by allowing them hold their meetings in Ibadan.

“It is not a coincidence that the Oodua separatist group and the so called Afenifere that are heating the polity that is threatening the unity of Nigeria enjoy good patronage of Engr Seyi Makinde of Oyo state which informed most meetings holding in Ibadan”, it said.

The party further berated Makinde for identifying with the June 12 protesters in Ibadan on Saturday, alleging that the governor of politicising security issues in Oyo state at the expense of the state and its people.

“Several times we had advised Governor Seyi Makinde to stop politicising security issues in Oyo state but with the darting and damning senseless June 12, 2021 parade of today, when the whole Nigeria is thinking of how to bring an end to insecurity, in Nigeria and particularly Oyo state, it has become very very clear that Oyo state people needed to be delivered,”

Oyo APC maintained, “What else will confirm to the good people of Oyo State that the Executive Governor of Oyo State, Engr Seyi Makinde  is actually the one funding the Miscreants that are responsible for the insecurity  in Oyo State than the June 12 rally in which the Governor with his convoy of vehicles were seen clearly amongst them”.

“It was not a coincidence that the most remarkable victims of last year (2020) EndSARS where the bodies of Policemen that were cannibalised were recorded in Ibadan, Oyo State under the Government of Engr Seyi Makinde. It was on record that the only day thus far since assumption of office on 29th May 2019, that Oyo State and in fact Ibadan land had relative peace  was the day PDP South West Congress was held in Osogbo, Osun State when the goons  of Governor Seyi  Makinde were “moved en mass” to Osogbo.

The party in the statement noted that “Oyo state governor’s apology in Igangan after the mayhem of Saturday/Sunday, 5th/6th June 2021 was  just a smokescreen and deceitful character of Governor Makinde to pull wool over the faces of innocent people of Oyo state”.
