Ooni to Assembly speakers: Justify Not-Too -Young To Run

The Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi  has urged   the Speaker of  Oyo state Assembly, Hon Adebo Ogundoyin and other young assembly speakers in Nigeria to justify the Not-too-young to run policy of the all progressives Congress (APC)-led adminstration.

Receiving speakers from Plateau, Zamfara, Kwara and Osun states, led by Hon Ogundoyin of Oyo state into his Ile Oodua palace in Ile Ife on Monday, Ooni Ogunwusi charged the young speakers to inject fresh blood in the nation’s polity by displaying good leadership qualities to further lead the youth in Nigeria to political prominence and prosperity.

The Ooni stressed that he would continue to celebrate the young speakers and other young Nigerians appointed or elected into political positions, tasking them to ensure that the project for the Nigeria of our dream starts with them.

Ooni Ogunwusi lauded Governor Seyi Makinde for setting the pace for the involvement of youth in politic in Nigeria, especially with the appointment of  27 –year-old Seun Fakorede and others as commissioners in the state.

Earlier, the Speaker of Oyo state House of Assembly, Hon Ogundoyin said the speakers under the not-too-young to run policy were already working and relating together for the involvement of more youth and women in the Nigerian politics, promising to partner with the Ooni in his various educational and  youth empowerment programmes, targeting at over 18, 000 young Nigerians across the country.

Ogundoyin, however, advocated for more investment in education to help the country address the different challenges confronting it.

Other House of Assembly speakers, in their remarks, expressed delight in the visit to Ile Ife believed to be the ancestral home of the Yoruba and assured the traditional ruler of their resolve to justify their election into political offices.

Oyo state Commissioner for Youth and Sports, Mr Seun Fakorede, who was part of the delegation in his remark urged youth in Nigeria to rise up to the challenge of leadership as he challenged Nigerians and indeed Africans to start writing their stories themselves, adding that it was time bad history already documented for the nation and the continent is corrected.

Other speakers at the palace of Ooni were Kwara state speaker, Hon Danladi Saliu, Zamfara state speaker, Hon Nasiru Muazu Magarye, Plateau state speaker, Hon Abok Nuhu Ayuba and Osun state speaker, Hon Timothy Owoeye.
