Operation Lafiya DoleTheater Command Headquarters Maiduguri has inaugurated General Special Court Martial to discipline airing officers and soldiers deployed to the theater command to fight Boko Haram insurgency.
Inaugurating the General Special Court Martial at the Officers Mess, Maimalari Cantonment Thursday, Theater Commander Operation Lafiya Dole Major General Benson Akinroluyo said:, “Military as an institution is known with maintenance of discipline and decorum in its way if doing things”.
“The operational efficiency of the military is better retained when the ethnic and customs aim at enhancing discipline are encouraged.
“The decision to convey this General Court Martial under my command was based on powers conferred on me as a commander, under section 131(2)(d) of the Armed Force’s Act CAP A20 LFN 2004.
“This court does not have any special interest to serve, rather than the routine duties within the realm of regimentation.
“This stipulates that , principles of natural justice, equity, and fairness, which are the enabling pillars of this General Court Martial, will surely its conducts throughout its sittings.”, Benson said.
He assured that nobody has any reason to fear as the court will carry out its proceedings in accordance with the dictates of the extant rules and regulations, adding that they will make sure that a level playing is provided for the accused persons and the prosecution.
