Operation Puff Adder: Kano police nab 116 hoodlums

The police in Kano have arrested 216 suspected criminals for ove crimes ranging from armed robbery, kidnapping, car-snatching, currency counterfeiting, and drug abuse.

Parading the suspects at the command’s headquarters Friday, the Commissioner of Police, Alhaji Iliyasu Ahamed, said parading the suspects was informed by the need to showcase some of the numerous achievements recorded before, during and after the Sallah celebrations.

According to him, this led to the hitch-free Eld el-Kabir celebration in the state.

He said the IGP’s Operation Puff Adder was paying off in the state as command had been making “monumental breakthroughs in crimes such as armed robbery, kidnapping, among others.”

Ahamed said nine robbery suspects were arrested while 16 suspected kidnappers were arrested with two of the victims rescued, adding that

34 thugs, popularly known as yandaba, were also arrested at various locations within the state before, during and after the Sallah celebrations.

He said 51 suspects were arrested at different various criminal hideouts where large quantities of dried leaves suspected to be Indian Hemp and other intoxicating substances were recovered in addition to tracking one suspect at his hideout in Warawa local government area.

The police boss said the command also nabbed five suspected fraudsters and high- profile scammers on land matters in addition to five suspects that were arrested for counterfeiting in local and foreign currencies.
