Operation Puff Adder: We’ve arrested 90 hoodlums in 7 days – Kano CP

The Kano state Police Command said it has arrested 90 suspected criminals in Kano metropolis within the last one week.

The state police Commissioner, Mr Ahmed Iliyasu made the disclosure while parading the suspects before newsmen at the Bompai Police Headquarters in Kano on Friday.

He said the suspects were apprehended during raids of criminal hideouts at different parts of the state between June 4 and June 5.

“To control activities of criminally minded persons in the state, hence the decision of the command to raid criminal hideouts and black spots located at different parts of the state, ”he said.

He said the suspects were apprehended from Gano general area, Dawakin Kudu local LGA, Bachirawa quarters Ungoggo LGA and Emir’s Palace road in Kano Municipal LGA.

He said other areas include Dala, Panshekara, Kwana hudu and Dakata quarters, all in Kano metropolis.

He said “exhibit recovered from the suspects include 64 knives, scissors, axe iron cutter, charms, wraps of dried leaves suspected to be Indian hemp and suck and die liquid substances.”

Meanwhile, “the command had also arrested two suspects with 14 big sacks of Indian hemp valued at N5 million at Dala quarters in Kano.”

He said the suspects were nabbed on Wednesday, June 5 around 6 pm by a team of policemen attached to Dala Division following a tip-off.

Similarly he said the Police while on patrol around Emir’s Palace on Sallah day arrested 25 suspects in connection with the death of one person and causing injuries to some others.

The Police boss said “items recovered from the suspects include dangerous weapons like knives, cutlasses, sticks, charms, Gariyo and intoxicant drugs, among others.”

The Commissioner said all the suspects would be charged to court after investigation.
