The organisers of the eagerly awaited Bet9ja Ekiti state football league have rolled out plans that would make the competition exciting and rewarding.
According to a statement from the Secretary of the Ekiti state FA, Mr. Idowu I.B, 40 teams are expected to square up in the playoffs which begins May 20, 2019 and would run for two weeks at the Oluyemi Kayode Stadium, Ado-Ekiti.
At the playoffs, the duration of a match will be one hour. Which means the teams would play 25mins per half and 10mins break between the halves. Only 12 teams shall emerge to go into the main league.
The twelve teams that qualify from the play offs shall be segmented into two groups of six teams each. The league proper shall be played on home and away basis with all Nigeria Nation-wide league rules applying.
The statement further stated that at the end of the group stage, the best two teams in each group would qualify to play for the final plays offs.
The final playoffs which shall be on a knockout basis, is also expected to hold at the Oluyemi Kayode stadium.
Meanwhile, the organisers have also confirmed that eminent personalities and football stakeholders in the state, including His Royal Highness the Olukere of Ikere Oba Ganiyu Ayodele Obasonyin, Ekiti State FA Patron Mr. O’Seun Odewale and the Hon. Commissioner for Youths and Sports Mr. Michael Awopetu would available on May 20, 2019 for the kickoff of the Bet9ja Ekiti Football League.
