Ortom can’t stop Akume’s senatorial reelection – APC

Benue state chapter of the All Progressive Congress yesterday said Governor Samuel Ortom has no clout to stop Senator George Akume’s fourth term senatorial ambition.
The state Organizing Secretary of APC, Mr. Mark Hanmation who spoke in an interview with newsmen in Makurdi, stated that the party fielded Ortom in the 2015 elections in error.
He said the party has now regretted his abysmal performance in office in the past three and half years in office, saying his inability to implement APC manifesto accounted for why the party decided to go against him.
According to him, Senator Akume who was instrumental to Ortom’s victory in 2015 on the platform of the APC was pained that Ortom had consistently refused to heed to advice of the party to carry out road construction, payment of workers’ salaries for the benefit of the citizenry hence the need to scout for a more performing aspirant that would make a difference in office come 2019.
Mr. Hanmation pointed out that, rather than apologise to Benue people for his failure in office, Ortom resorted to casting aspersions on President Muhammadu Buhari and Senator Akume who he declared his enemies.
“The APC in Benue state is not missing his defection to the PDP at all.
Ortom is too insignificant to scuttle Senator George Akume’s senatorial bid next year.
“It is only the people of Benue North West that will decide the fate of Senator Akume and not a person like Governor Samuel Ortom.
“My advice to Benue people is to vote APC to correct the errors Ortom has brought in governance,” he added.
