Ortom distributes 46 vehicles to LGA chairmen, assembly leaders

Benue state governor, Dr Samuel Ortom, Wednesday distributed 46 vehicles to local government chairmen and legislative house leaders.

The vehicles are 23 Hilux vans and 23 Nissan Almera vehicles 2020 models, for the chairmen and leaders of legislative houses respectively.

Governor Ortom, while performing the ceremony at the Benue Government House, Makurdi, said the decision was necessary to enhance operations of the local government officials.

He said he was aware of the difficult terrains in the rural areas, hence the need for an effective transportation means.

The governor charged the beneficiaries to make judicious use of the vehicles, adding that with the vehicles, they will be able to reach all areas under their supervision.

The governor reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to support local governments in the state to serve the people better.

Responding on behalf of the beneficiaries, Chairman Association of Local Governments of Nigeria (ALGON), Mr. Caleb Abah and Leader Gboko Legislative House, Peter Maaki, all appreciated the governor for the vehicles and promised to use them for the purpose they were meant for.

Earlier, special adviser to the governor on Bureau for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Kenneth Achabo, commended the governor for the official presentation of the vehicles and urged the beneficiaries to be spurred by the gesture.
