Ortom raises alarm over ‘influx of cattle into Benue’

Makurdi

Governor Samuel Ortom of Benue state yesterday raised the alarm over the continuous influx of cattle into the state after the launch of Ayem Akpatuma military exercise.
The governor raised the concern when he took the Senior Pastor of Dunamis International Gospel Centre, Dr Pastor Paul Enenche, and his wife, Dr Pastor Becky, to the grave site of the 73 victims of the herdsmen attack in Makurdi.
The governor said Benue was still besieged and that herdsmen still grazed freely in some parts of the state, despite the presence of the military, operating under Ex-Ayem A. Akpatuma in the state.
He stated that more than 60 people had been killed since the mass burial with three of the victims killed by herdsmen last week in Guma local government area.
The Governor appealed to the military to flush out the invaders “so that the over 160, 000 displaced people who are in eight camps can return to their homes.”
Enenche, who anointed the land as a symbol to signify the breaking of its yoke, declared that the burial site would also “connote the internment of government and security failure, impunity, Jihadist agenda and all forms of evil in the country.”
He prayed for God’s justice and judgement against the killers and their sponsors throughout the country, saying the earth would rise up against them.
