Ortom urges contractors to sit up

Governor Samuel Ortom of Benue state has warned contractors handling various projects across the state to sit up as he will not allow anyone to frustrate the efforts of his administration.

Governor Ortom gave the warning Saturday, shortly after inspecting two township roads and a street under construction in Makurdi, the state capital.

The two roads are Terwase Agbadu -Yaikyo/Apir, Customary Court of Appeal through Logo 1 to George Akume Way and Atoato Igirgi Street.

He said he has already terminated some contracts including the one awarded for the construction of Daudu – Gbajimba road adding  that the contractor has been given time to refund the money paid him or he will be dragged to the anti graft agency.

He stated that more township roads would be constructed by his administration before he leaves office in 2023.

Ortom said the construction of the township and rural roads in the last lap of the life of his administration across the state is critical and would be given priority.

He said the move of government is to ensure that the roads open up new development areas and ease movement, particularly in areas with difficult terrains.

He said he was determined to ensure that all contracts awarded by the administration are completed on time for the benefit of the people of the state.
