Ortom’s political red card

The world cup has come and gone, football fans were treated to scintillating skills by some of the best players in the world.
As expected, the players that did very well will be wooed in the transfer market by the best club sides and consequently rewarded with mouths watering and juicy offers.
While those that performed woefully may be ‘shipped’ out or given ‘red card’.
Similarly, from all indications, it appears the political transfer window of Nigerian politics is officially open.
Shehu Sani, the bushy air senator, representing Kaduna central senatorial district hinted this, when he posted on his ever busy and controversial twitter handle that “I am still in the broom city FC as a left winger and not a defender.
The rumours that I have changed club to the White Horse Athletico and that they have offered me the position of a striker is untrue.
If there will be transfer before the end of the season, you will be openly notified”.
However, the body language of some star players in Nigeria’s political pitch clearly show that they are ready to move on.
The reformed APC members fall within this category.
Although he has not openly identify with the rAPC members, Governor Samuel Ortom of Benue state has officially tabled a transfer request to the broom city FC.
Ortom made the request when he said that “As for the party, I’ve been given the red card and I’m now outside the pitch.
So, if I have been given the red card and I’m standing outside, that means I’m a free man.” He also disclosed that he has not confirmed his next destination but when the decision is made he would let it known to the public.
“I don’t know what will happen next, but I’m waiting.
If others approach me, then I will tell the Benue people that I’m joining another football club.” By this open declaration, Ortom is now a free agent and the implication is that he is a free agent.
Little wonder the broom city FC and the umbrella united are currently jostling for his ‘his signature’.
This probably explains why the PDP seized the eight day prayer for the repose of the soul of the mother of kawu Baraje to woo Ortom and some aggrieved members of the ruling APC into their fold.
Others big wigs they are trying to woo are Aminu Tambuwal, governor of Sokoto state, Abdulfatah Ahmed, governor of kwara state and Senate President Bukola Saraki.
The PDP leaders at the meeting were Uche Secondus, chairman of the party and Nyesom Wike, governor of Rivers.
Interestingly, in what looks like a counter attack, the national leadership of the APC met with Ortom in a bid to persuade him to reject the mouth watering offer of the APC.
As things stand, only God knows the fate of Ortom and other aggrieved members of the ruling APC.
Ours is to continue to enjoy the dramas as they unfold.
