Osinbajo, Ambode, others for NGE elective convention May

The Nigerian Guild of Editors (NGE) has concluded plans to hold its biennial convention in Lagos from May 3 to 5, this year.

According to a statement issued by the social/publicity secretary of the Guild, Mr Ken Ugbechie, the high point of the convention would be “the election of new exco members to run the affairs of the Guild in the next two years after the expiration of the tenure of the Mrs. Funke Egbemode-led exco.”

He said the convention, which will be chaired by veteran journalist Mr. Dan Agbese, will have over 300 editors from across the country in attendance.

The theme of the convention is “Media Convergence as Strategy for Survival” and the keynote lecture will be delivered by Professor Abigail Ogwezzy-Ndisika, the head, Department of Mass Communication, University of Lagos and member, Editorial Board of The Guardian newspapers.

He said Vice president Yemi Osinbajo will be the special guest of honour, Lagos state Governor Akinwunmi Ambode, the host, and the Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, is the host minister.

Meanwhile, the election committee for the Guild has cleared 23 candidates to vie for elective positions into the Guild’s Executive Council and Standing Committee.
