Osinbajo launches MSME for 20,000 people in Osun

The Vice President of Nigeria, Professor Yemi Osinbajo, on Thursday, launched a Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises, MSME, for 20,000 people in Osun state.
The Vice President who inspected the goods and products display at Nelson Mandela Freedom Park, Osogbo, the state capital, said he was convinced with what he saw in the state.
He described Osun state as the engine of Agro-Allied Industry, assuring that the federal government would support the state for the success of the programme.
“I have moved round, I have seen businesses, I want to congratulate you because this state is the engine of agro allied Industry.
“I have brought with me the Director of NAFDAC, Standard Organization of Nigeria, Bank of Industry, Corporate Affairs Commission, to take whatever complain you have. We are going to have office for all of them in this state.
“The federal government of Nigeria is behind you. This country belongs to everyone of us. If we use our resources well, we can all prosper.
He said the All Progressives Congress has been striving to ensure that, even the poorest in the country will be uplifted.
Speaking, the state Governor, Mr. Rauf Aregbesola, disclosed that the state would empower 20,000 citizen through the programme.
He said, “we are overwhelmed by what the VP has come to do for us. We are empowering 20,000 citizen starting from today.
“The first 10,000 will collect N500,000 without interest. The remaining 10,000 will get between N500,000 up to N1miliion.
Earlier in his welcome address, the Commissioner for Commerce, Industry and Cooperatives, Mr. Jayeoba Alagbada, disclosed that the state government has distributed about N3.5b to over 33,000 individual at interest free loan.
The Executive Director, Bank of Industry, Mrs. Toyin Adeniji, stated that Osun state has been very receptive to the programme, adding “we are giving more than 14,000 loans in the state.
