Osinbanjo’s wife tasks youth on positive conducts

Wife of Vice President, Mrs Dolapo Osinbanjo, has advised youth to explore the vast opportunities in the country to enable them to be useful to the country.

Mrs Osinbanjo also implored the youth to retrace their steps and refrain from social ills.

Speaking Saturday during Benue youth town hall meeting held at the new banquet hall, Government House, Makurdi, she lamented over the high rate of societal ills associated with the youths especially drug abuse and the internet.

“Most of the youths are being destroyed by drugs and the internet.

“The internet is an illusion. It is a mirage. It is like a cartoon. Not everything you see in it is real,” she said.

While describing Nigerian youth as princesses and princes, she reminded them that their country possess a rich heritage and blessed with a lot of potentials waiting to be explored and harnessed by them.

“This land (Nigeria) is fruitful. The land is beautiful with accommodating people. It belongs to you. We have enough for our own market. It is time for you to take authority of the land because you are royalty, and have the responsibility not to abuse yourselves.”

She urged the youths not to eat up their tomorrow saying they have a good background and history and could not afford to give up on their ideals.

In her remark, wife of Benue state governor, Mrs. Eunice Ortom decried the high rate of rape on a daily basis and drug abuse amongst the youths, adding that the unfortunate situation portend a dangerous precedent.

She said youths must do sober reflection on certain acts they engage in, maintaining that they must take ownership of their thoughts and actions.

“Youths must take their destiny in their own hands. They must do sober reflection on what rules their purpose. Knowing yourself is the beginning of wisdom. Your emotions must be put to check. Reflect on your passion as young people. We must choose to do what we would be proud of. Youth should prepare themselves for life challenges”, Mrs. Ortom advised.
