Osun APC at war as caucus accuses govt of intimidating members

A caucus of the All Progressives Congress (APC), ‘The Osun Progressives’ (TOP), has accused the state government for the detained member of the group, Tunde Boladale, by the State Security Service.

A statement by the Chairman of TOP, Adelowo Adebiyi, alleged that Boladale is being detained by security in connivance with some government officials.

According to the statement, Boladale reported to the SSS on Wednesday noon upon invitation by the state director, and still being detained.

The statement condemned the use of state security to harass members of the same party, alleging that the refusal of Boladale to heed the advice of Commissioner for Youth and Sport, Yemi Lawal, to renounce his membership of the TOP, led to the invitation by the state security.

“It is rather unfortunate that a situation like this is happening to a member of APC who just concluded his service to his local government, Isokan, as a Councillor.

“The Osun Progressives (TOP) condemned in strong terms, the persecution of Boladale for holding view and the assault on his freedom of association.

“Indeed, we consider such steps as anti democracy and a serious negotiation of the provisions of the constitution.

“We note that the invitation of the SSS was premature and unnecessary as a report made to them much earlier of a state Commissioner vomiting verbal assault on video has not attracted their attention till now.

“We smell bias and bad faith in the prompt invitation and detention of Boladale as an example of what to expect by the SSS by anybody with opposing views to the present government.”
