Osun court remands hotel manager for abduction, attempted rape

A Magistrate Court sitting in Osogbo, Osun state capital, on Wednesday, remanded a 52-year-old hotel manager, George Morakinyo, for alleged abduction and rape.
The accused person who is the manager of Morack Hotel in Osogbo, was said to have abducted one Rotimi Elizabeth and attempted to rape her.
The Prosecutor, Mr. Rasaki Lamidi told the court that the accused committed the alleged crime sometime in September, 2017 at Morack Hotel, Osogbo.
He alleged that the accused lured Elizabeth to his custody without the consent of her parents.
According to the charge sheet brought against the accused person, the offence contravened sections 22A(1)(2), 222, 225, 2226 of the Criminal Code  Cap 34 Volume.II Laws of Osun State of Nigeria, 2003.
The accused pleaded not guilty to the four-count charge preferred against him.
Counsel to the accused, Mr. Bola Abimbola, urged the court to grant his client bail, noting that the offense was bailable.
But, the prosecution opposed the bail of the accused person, noting that the victim is currently receiving treatment in the hospital and granting the bail of the accused may jeopardise the police investigation.
However, Magistrate Adenike Olowolagba, ordered that the accused be remanded at Ilesa prison custody and adjourned the case till November 22,for hearing.
