Osun: Man arraigned for N2.8m fraud in Osun

  

Osun state police command Tuesday arraigned a 38-year-old man, Ibrahim Azeez, before a Magistrate’s Court sitting in Osogbo for alleged N2.8 million fraud. 

Police prosecutor, S. E. Anifowose, told the court that the defendant committed the crime sometimes in 2018 in Osogbo. 

He alleged that the defendant did fraudulently obtain the sum of N2.8 million, with pretence to supply 280 bags of rice to one Alhaja Abiola Abitoye and refused to fulfill the agreement. 

The allegation, according to the charge sheet, was contrary to section 419 and 383 and punishable under section 390(9) of the criminal code cap 34 Vol ll, law of Osun state, 2002.

The defendant pleaded not guilty to the two count charges of fraud and stealing slammed against him by the police. 

His counsel, D. D Awoyemi, urged the court to grant him bail pending the determination of the matter before the court. 

Magistrate Adebayo Ajala granted the defendant bail in the sum of N3 million with two sureties in like sum. 

He adjourned the matter till August 21, 2020 for hearing.
