Osun state police command Tuesday arraigned three persons before a Magistrates’ court sitting in Osogbo for alleged certificate forgery.
They are: Ahmed Olawale Wasiu (60), Adam Oaikihena Omolara (36) and Adeleke Toheerat Omowumi (18).
They were arraigned on three count charges of conspiracy, certificate forgery and fraud.
Police prosecutor, Sergeant Adeoye Kayode, alleged that the defendants forged Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) result.
Prosecution alleged that the defendants committed the offence on November 25, 2020 at Diamond Avenue, along new Owode road, Abere, Osogbo.
Kayode told the court that the defendants made a false document of Basic Education Certificate examination (BECE) result and claimed that the document was issued by Osun State Ministry of Education, Osogbo.
He informed the court that the first defendant forged the certificate while the second defendant tricked and obtained a sum of N5,000 from one Adeleke Toheerat Omowumi with the intention that she will assist her to register for Basic Education Certificate examination 2020/2021 session and she failed to do so.
The offense, according to the charge sheet, was contrary to section 516(9), 465 and 421 of the Criminal Code Cap 34 Vol ll, law of Osun state, 2002.
Meanwhile, the defendants pleaded not guilty to the allegations slammed against them by the police.
Their counsel, Mr. Damola Olalekan, urged the court to grant his clients bail, promising that they will stand their trial.
The Magistrate, Abayomi Ajala, thereby granted the defendants bail in the sum of N250,000 with one surety each in like sum.
He thereafter adjourned the matter till February 23, for hearing.
