Osun Poly closes for community ritual rites


Management of Osun State Polytechnic, Iree, has announced closure of the institution for ritual rites in the hosting community.
In a letter signed by the Registrar of the institution, Mr. A. O. Adeosun, management said the ritual rites would be performed for the late King, Oba Jimoh Olayoonu Olatoyan.
The letter directed all the students to vacate the town while those that could not afford leaving should stay indoor pending the ritual rites.
The letter reads: “The Aree-in-council and the entire people of Iree town will be observing certain rites as from afternoon Monday 14th January, 2019. This forms part of funeral rites for the immediate past Kabiesi of the town, Oba Jimoh Olayoonu Olatoyan.
“Consequently upon the above, I am directed to inform the Polytechnic community that the institution closes to both administrative and academic activities at 2.00pm prompt on Monday 14th of January, 2019.
“I am to add that everybody should vacate the institution premises at the dead of time. In addition for both staff and students who reside in Iree town, I am to further advise that everybody should remain indoor as from 2.00pm on that day.
The letter noted that the institution will resume for academic activities on Tuesday 15th, 2019.
