Osun teachers’ strike

After being declared winner of the August 9 governorship poll in Osun State, Mr Rauf Aregbesola was alleged to have told teachers that he knew they did not vote for him and that even some of them acted as agents for a major opposition party.

The governor however promised not to punish them. But the three-day warning strike by teachers in Osun State recently over nonprovision of instructional materials is indicative of what fate awaits them in the second term of the governor in office.

I just want to appeal to the governor to consider the future of innocent schoolchildren who never stopped singing to remind their parents to vote for him during electioneering because of the eggs and chicken being fed with under the O’ Meal school project.

Education remains the bedrock of development but if those imparting knowledge are not adequately taken care of, it will be counterproductive.
