Governorship tussle: Osun tribunal to deliver judgment January 27

Osun state election petition tribunal has fixed Friday, January 27 for judgment.

The tribunal commenced sitting on the petition filed by former governor Adegboyega Oyetola of the All Progressives Congress (APC) against governor Ademola Adeleke of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on September 26, 2022.

The tribunal Secretary, David Umar, confirmed that Justice Tersea Kume led the tribunal and will deliver judgment by 9 am, Friday.

Oyetola and the APC had alleged that the result of the July 16, 2022 governorship election declared by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), was fraught with over-voting in 749 polling units in 10 local governments.

They also claimed that Adeleke was not eligible to contest the election because of alleged discrepancies in his certificate submitted to the INEC.

But, the PDP, Governor Ademola Adeleke, claimed that over-voting occurred in only six polling units and he fulfilled the provision of the constitution on the issue of the certificate.
