Osun workers demand salary payment

Labour unions in Osun state have called on Governor Rauf Aregbesola to immediately commence full payment of salaries and pensions in line with the agreement reached on December 30, 2017 to guarantee the industrial peace of the state.
The union under the aegis of Osun State Joint Public Service Negotiating Councils I, II & III, wrote a letter to the Governor, titled: “Re: Memorandum of Understanding between the State Government of Osun and the Leadership of Labour Unions Signed on Saturday 30th December, 2017”.
The letter exclusively obtained by our correspondent was signed by the NLC Chairman, Comrade Jacob Adekomi, Secretary, Rufus Adeyemi, TUC Chairman, Adebowale Adekola, Secretary, Akin Olatunbosun, IPSNC Chairman, Bayo Adejumo, and his Secretary, Richard Oyegbami.
According to the letter dated July 17, 2018, the union said: “The full payment of salaries and pensions of all Osun state government employees should commence immediately.
Payment of balance of salaries and pensions from September 2015 till date should commence immediately.
Immediate remittance of Contributory Pension of workers should be made to the respective Pension Fund Administrators without further delay.
The union also called for payment of outstanding 2016 leave allowance, saying:”The situation of workers in the state of Osun is precarious and if these demands are not met immediately, the labour movement may not be able to guarantee industrial peace in the state.
