Otegbeye puts Cup exit behind for NNL

3SC striker, Ajibola Otegbeye, is bracing for the southwest derby in the Nigeria National League [NNL] after their exit from the Federation Cup last week.
The former ABS forward wants to put aside his team’s shock exit from the Federation Cup at the hands of modest outfit, Dynamite FC before facing one of the biggest rivals in the southwest, Stationery Stores.
“I must confess we are very disappointed to have lost in the Federation Cup. I want to apologise to our fans for that and to remind them that we wanted to go as far as we could in the competition but unfortunately things did not turn out that way for us.

“Now we want to focus on the league and give our fans something to be happy about. It will be good to start [the second round] with a convincing win against one of our rivals Stationery Stores,” he said to supersport.com.
Otegbeye also acknowledged that Stationery Stores will be no easy opponents and that 3SC are prepared to give their best to claim the full points.

Asked about plans to win promotion with 3SC to the premier division, the striker rather wants to see out the season one game at a time.
“I’ve been told of the rivalry between 3SC and Stores. So I know what to expect now. We want to put in our best for this game and get the three points so that our fans will at least be happy. I know it won’t be an easy game but we are prepared.

Like every other team in the league we want to win promotion but we don’t want to distract ourselves with that yet. Let’s win our match against Stores, then play the next one and win and like that for the rest [of the matches]. Then we can start thinking of promotion. But really it is our target [to win promotion to the Glo Premier League],” he remarked.

Otegbeye is available for selection when 3SC play hosts to Stationery Stores in Nigeria’s second tier at the Lekan Salami Stadium in Ibadan this Wednesday.
