Otti heads to tribunal, calls for cancellation of governorship election

Governorship candidate of All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) in the 2019 governorship election in Abia state, Dr Alex Otti has called for the cancellation of the election in 15 local government areas of the state as well as 788 Pooling units (PU) .

The APGA governorship candidate made this request in a petition filed on his behalf at the Election Petitions Tribunal sitting in Umuahia.

A Press release issued by Kazie Uko, the director of Media and Publicity, Dr Alex Otti campaign Organization made available to Blueprint in Umuahia said that a 3 man legal team is led by  Prince Lateef Fagbemi, SAN; A.J. Owonikoko, Esq. SAN; and Kenneth Ahia, SAN.

The Petitioners want the tribunal to jettison the official results declared by INEC Officials in favour of Dr Okezie Ikpeazu and PDP .

It is also the desire of the Petitioners’ that the tribunal declares the elections null and void.

Dr Alex Otti, and APGA, specifically faulted the electoral processes and the alleged compromised outcome in 788 Polling Units (PUs); 143 Electoral Wards; and 15 LGAs in amongst others.

The contentious 15 LGAs of the disputed results are: Aba North, Bende, Isiala Ngwa North and South, Isuikwuato, Obi Ngwa, Ohafia, Osisioma, Ugwunagbo, Ukwa East and West, Umunneochi, Umuahia North and South.
