Outgoing A’Ibom Speaker thanks Akpabio, others, empowers constituents

The speaker, Akwa Ibom state House of Assembly and member elect,Etinan/Nsit Ubium/Nsit Ibom Federal Constituency Hon Oniofiok Luke, Wednesday, expressed appreciation to Senator Godswil Akpabio and other top politicians for giving him the platform to aspire politically

Speaking at his thank you and last briefing of his Nsit Ubium State Constituents held at Nsit Ubium local government council secretariat, Luke said he thanked Akpabio very specially for involving him in party politics.

According to him, “very specially, I want to thank His Excellency Senator Godswill Akpabio and his wife who in 2011 gave me the opportunity which led me to the state House of Assembly.”

He also thanked Obong Umana Okon Umana whom he said supported me to run in the 2011 state assembly election and in stood by him in many other ways.

 The outgoing appreciated the political class of Nsit Ubium which sowed the first seed through giving me the opportunity to serve.

“Today I stand before you as the Speaker of the Akwa Ibom state House of Assembly and as the member-elect for Etinan/Nsit Ubium/Nsit Ibom Federal Constituency in the 9th National Assembly.

“This would never have been possible if you in Nsit Ubium did not provide me with a solid home base which God used to make the politically crooked paths straight for me.

“Let me also use this opportunity to thank His Excellency the Governor, Mr Udom Emmanuel, for his cooperation with me and by extension with the people of Nsit Ubium. I am confident that he will continue with this partnership with us as he takes up the mantle for second term. I encourage you to please give him maximum cooperation and trust in his sincerity to execute the completion agenda which he has set before him.”

The lawmaker rounded up the Thank you visit with the launching of Special Education Intervention Programme and the Start-up Expansion Grant for others including widows and the physically challenged.

He donated N1million to ten students who benefited from the education programme, under the start-up category, ten widows got N50,000 each, while N1million went to 20 enterprising youths.

Another group of women received N50,000 each, ten physically challenged constituents smiled home with N50,000 each.
